Laboratory Section Supervisor  :

This position is a full-time Laboratory Section Supervisor that requires Hematology and Coagulation supervisory exp.  The salary is based on experience and starts at low $80k to low $100k.  We are seeking someone who has 6 years of experience and are looking to fill this position as soon as we can find a great candidate!

This role will over see 7 FTEs.

 

 

Job Title:Laboratory Section Supervisor  

Position Summary

Provides laboratory services to meet the needs of all customers in accordance with accepted standards and practices. Supervises and coordinates functions and activities in any/all sections of the Clinical Laboratory.

Position Responsibilities

Interviews applicants for positions under his/her supervision.

Responsible for orientation/training of all new employees.

Coordinates work schedules/daily assignments to maximize productivity.

Hold section meetings with staff on a regular basis to keep staff informed.

Supervises the work of technologists in the laboratory. Documents the validity and accuracy of test results and assures that all results are within quality control limits

Gives input to the development of policy for the department.

Writes and maintains the procedures of the Lab Section in accordance with Lab policy and regulatory requirements.

Is aware of all regulatory requirements and maintains compliance.

Responsible for the purchase and acquisition of laboratory supplies while remaining cognizant of quantity and price.

Performs employee evaluations.

Responsible for overall maintenance of equipment and maintaining records of repair.

Follows and enforces with staff universal precautions and all safety and other policies of the department and Lawrence Hospital.

Verifies method/instrument performance initially and monitors to maintain acceptable performance.

Attends continuing education programs (when possible) outside of the laboratory.

Ensures staff and self attends all mandatory in-service and training and participates in the presentation of in-services for the staff.

Actively participates as a member of the leadership and QA committees of the department.

Interacts with the Medical Director, Pathologists and other health care providers on matters relating to laboratory services in order to provide appropriate information for the patients' diagnosis and treatment.

Performs surveys and does comparative analysis of tests. May participate in research activities, investigate new products, equipment and methodologies and make recommendations, as appropriate.

Responsible for documentation. Establishes a record system and maintain all required information according to guidelines set forth by regulatory agencies.

Is responsible for all aspects of operations for the Laboratory Section being supervised.

Required to perform all duties of a Medical Technologist.

Assists the hospital and the department in meeting and exceeding their commitment to Continuous Quality Improvement.

Responsible for displaying courtesy and sensitivity to our customers. Meets commitments and responds promptly to customer needs.

Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Documents corrective action in the instance of non-conformance and ensures no patient reporting until corrected.

Ensures PT specimens and corrective action adhere to SOPM.

Routinely reviews QC and takes appropriate action when indicated.

Ensures that staff follows safety policies. 


Qualifications:

Education- BS, MT ASCPP

Licensure/Certifications -NY Clinical Laboratory Technologist License.

 

Professional Skills/Experience- @ least 6 years experience.
