Histology Supervisor (NIGHTS)

A privately-owned clinical lab in Birmingham, AL is seeking a full-time, permanent Histology Supervisor for the night shift (Monday-Friday 9:00pm-5:30am). If you’re interested in working for an industry leader to help deliver fast and accurate results, look no further!
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Directly supervise and coordinates the histology team, including performing routine duties of histology including embedding, microtome, specials stains and related tasks
- Manage the employee hiring process (interview prospective employees, develop performance expectations, identify essential functions and knowledge, skills and abilities)
- Manage employee performance and new employee orientation process
- Monitor and evaluate lab operations, workflow, and employees
- Properly embed, section, and stain all types of tissue
- Maintain quality control records on all equipment
- Other duties as assigned
REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or GED
- Associate’s degree or equivalent preferred
- ASCP (HT) certification preferred
- At least 5 years of Histotech experience
- Some supervisory experience
