Job Description

Apply for this opportunity as a  Histotechnologist with a top facility located in the Atlanta, Georgia area! Shifts will be discussed with Recruiter.

 

Position Overview:

As a Histology Technician, you will play a crucial role in the preparation and processing of tissue specimens for microscopic examination. You will work alongside pathologists and lab technicians to ensure that tissue samples are accurately prepared, stained, and preserved for diagnostic purposes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process tissue specimens for examination, including tissue fixation, embedding, and sectioning.

  • Perform routine and specialized staining procedures (e.g., Hematoxylin and Eosin, immunohistochemistry) to enhance tissue visualization.

  • Operate laboratory equipment such as microtomes, staining machines, and microscopes.

  • Maintain accurate records of specimen processing, including proper labeling and tracking.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve minor issues with laboratory equipment.

  • Ensure quality control and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

  • Collaborate with pathologists and laboratory supervisors to ensure timely specimen preparation and processing.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate’s degree in Histotechnology or a related field.

  • Certification: Certification as a Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or equivalent preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum 1 years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting preferred.

  • Skills: Proficiency in histological techniques, including tissue embedding, sectioning, and staining.

  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and ability to perform tasks with accuracy and precision.

  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with the team.

  • Knowledge of Lab Safety: Understanding of lab safety protocols and procedures.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with advanced staining techniques and immunohistochemistry.

  • Familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
