Job Description: Radiation Therapist
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Radiation Therapist to join our team. As a Radiation Therapist, you will be responsible for administering radiation treatments to patients as part of their cancer care. You will work closely with oncologists, medical physicists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive precise and effective radiation therapy in a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer radiation therapy treatments to patients according to prescribed plans, ensuring precision and accuracy.
- Set up and position patients for treatment, utilizing appropriate safety protocols and techniques.
- Operate and maintain radiation therapy equipment, ensuring it is functioning properly and adhering to safety standards.
- Monitor patients during treatment sessions to ensure safety, comfort, and effective delivery of care.
- Collaborate with oncologists, medical physicists, and other healthcare professionals to review treatment plans and ensure the best possible care for each patient.
- Document treatment details, progress, and any side effects in the electronic medical record system.
- Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families about radiation therapy, potential side effects, and treatment expectations.
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols, ensuring patient, staff, and visitor safety.
- Stay current with advancements in radiation therapy techniques, equipment, and best practices through continuing education and training.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Radiation Therapy program.
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiation Therapy or equivalent certification.
- Current state licensure (if applicable).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Strong understanding of radiation therapy techniques, patient care, and safety protocols.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow complex treatment plans.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a Radiation Therapist in a clinical or hospital setting.
- Knowledge of advanced radiation therapy technologies (e.g., IMRT, IGRT, stereotactic therapy).
- Additional certifications in specialized areas of radiation therapy.
